I’m a mom blogger that reflects on being a sports mom and all that raising young athletes entails. Keep reading!

Recently I posted my 500th post on Instagram. For the larger bloggers, this is likely insignificant.

For me, this marks a moment. It signals my commitment to consistency. It marks my dedication to growth and learning new things. Put simply, it feels like a win for my small blog.

Not so ironically, the post was about sports moms knowing all the tricks to get white pants and socks clean for their young athletes.

I think my fellow sports moms will agree, that’s no small feat each week!

This celebration, my 500th post on Instagram, got me thinking about all the ways sports moms show up. Often times it’s the behind the scenes work that feels less significant.

But I’m sure, if left unattended, these seemingly small things become noticed.

What are the small wins and successes you contribute to support your young athletes?

It’s the little things

Here’s a few that come to mind:

  • Laundry
  • Communication
  • Managing schedules
  • Nutrition
  • Supplies
  • Travel logistics
  • First aid
  • Emotional support
  • Encouragement

These are pretty broad topics. When you dig down, there’s a lot of nuance to complicate this short list. This is also compounded if you have multiple athletes going in multiple directions.

Hello, insert the divide and conquer model here!

Sometimes it can all be overwhelming. And yet, it’s the small wins and successes that make the larger picture worth it. It’s also helpful knowing you aren’t alone! The sports mom community is strong.

Like so many multitasking moms, I’m trying to juggle all the pieces. Some days that works beautifully. Others, well, it can be organized chaos and feel completely out of balance.

Just like my blog. Some times all the pieces click. Other times I feel lost and undecided about which direction to go next.

But, I guess that’s life. And what a great lesson I’m learning from all these experiences.
