It’s possible your ‘fall ball’ schedule requires you to keep the fan batteries charged! Depending on the climate where you are, ‘fall ball’ is a misnomer.
But in North Carolina, the heat of mid day gives way to cooler temps when the sun goes down at the field.
Now that we’re back in school, those early morning games can be crisp. And knowing what to pack for all conditions can feel like you’re loading your entire closet for a full day tournament!
Now that the stifling days of summer have passed I change my approach to packing for weekends at the ball park.

Here’s what I’m packing in my wagon for fall ball.
Layer Like You Mean It
I’m a softball and baseball mom, so I can be staring down early mornings leaving the house at o’dark thirty when the ground is wet and the air is crisp. I can also endure the heat of mid day, and be blessed to be the last ones to roll out of the park, hours after the sunset.
Thankfully my double decker wagon holds it all!
Change it up
If you get year round warmer temps, check out my post for what I wear for summer games!
For fall I’m switching out the cute skorts and running short sets in favor of leggings, joggers, and various hoodies and pullovers in my kids’ team colors! Here’s a few options I’m falling for this season.
Vests are best
When the temperatures drop, sometimes a bulky pullover is too much. I reach for a vest to keep me warm. Options are endless. Hoods or pop collars? Cropped or longer in length?
Naturally, I love vests with pockets to keep my handwarmers in when it’s chilly and I need to keep the book.

Fans of Footwear
When the temperatures drop I reluctantly send my slides to the back of the closet. Footwear becomes an essential way to stay cozy on the sidelines.
Be prepared for wet grass, muddy sidelines, and freezing temps as your team plays their fall ball season.
While You’re at It…
Regardless of the season, if your athletes are playing outdoors you’ll need these laundry essentials on hand.
Hello, fellow moms against white pants, I’m talking to you, warriors!
We all have our routines to get those white pants and socks sparkling again for the next weekend! What’s your preferred method?
Here’s to the sports moms racing from game to game in all kinds of weather!
