Full disclosure: I’m a midlife mom of two. While I’ve made intentional efforts to maintaining healthy habits, I’m far from perfect and quite honestly, it’s something I really have to work towards.
Often I find it’s way easier to hit snooze, or mindlessly scroll, or work on my seemingly never ending to do list than to work out.
Here are some essential items I add to my home office to help me get my steps in while I work.
Stepping Up
So, in an effort to stay committed to my fitness goals I bought a walking pad. Yep, cue the mall walkers from the 80s looks! That’s me, walking away while I work!
Here’s the one that works for me!
No shame in my game!
The walking pad slides easily under my desk. I use this adjustable laptop stand so I can work while I walk.
Weighted Steps
To diversify my workouts and increase the challenge a bit, I’ll wear these ankle weights. These weights are adjustable, so I can change out the weights for longer walks around the neighborhood. Bonus points they come in multiple colors, so you can select your favorite and color coordinate your workout gear!
I’m also exploring a weighted vest, but haven’t taken the plunge yet. If you’ve tried them, send me your recommendations!
Fitting in Fitness
I’m a fan of at home workouts. So, I use the online workouts offered on BODi through my friend, Jen Williams Fitness. They have plenty of options to keep me engaged and challenged.
I don’t have the luxury of a nice in home gym. I move my gear around as needed to support both my individual efforts and when my young athletes are training outside of team practice. Here’s a few training gear we keep on hand:
Get going!
If you’re looking to get your steps in, but struggling to find time, consider a walking pad for your home office. You can walk while you work. Multitasking never looked so good!
