In typical NC fashion, I went from searching heated vests and hand warmers for G’s upcoming flag football game to searching spring inspiration in a matter of days.

I’ve been on a neutral palette kick recently and apparently designers agree with me. New spring looks are hitting sites and I’m gravitating to all the creamy neutrals as I transition from winter to early spring (with all likelihood this will be reiterated a few times before actual spring!).

I pinned great capsule wardrobe ideas on Pinterest that are anchored with neutral basics. These are nice because I can add pops of color and sparkle as the mood strikes, but overall I can mix and match easily. Capsule wardrobes are especially helpful for travel. You can create several looks with key pieces and not have to pack your entire closet (or do, if that’s your thing!).

Couple wearing neutral clothes

I’m not stowing away the boots…yet, but I am already dreaming of warmer days and cute spring looks. I am consistently a fan of basic pieces and varying the look with different accessories to match the moment and my mood. Just think of all the ways you can diversify a great pair of joggers!

Neutral Basics

I like to start with basic neutral pieces that I can use for several options depending on the moment and my mood. Also, it gives me versatility and more room to splurge on fun accessories.

I like this long white column dress from Old Navy. It’s a great length, even for the vertically challenged ladies like me (holding steading at 5’2″ over here!). I can think of so many uses for this dress and would completely buy it in other colors to keep things fresh.

You can find me sporting this dress to run errands or grab a quick coffee with a friend. I plan to throw a jean jacket over my shoulders to stave off chilly evenings. This puff sleeved option from GAP is pretty cute!

Simple Shoes

Keeping with the trendy neutrals, I like a couple of different simple shoe options. Again, depending on the event, the weather, and how I’m feeling, a girl needs options!

For a more polished look, these logo sandals from Tory Burch are a great choice! Target has some great dupes if you don’t want to splurge, but like a slide sandal.

Casual sneakers are super trendy for a more relaxed vibe. Slip these on for a sporty look with your column dress. If you feel like going all in, these sparkly sneakers are sure to be conversation starters!

Add a Bag

So, you have a cute, versatile dress. CHECK!

You need a bag!

I have fully embraced the smaller, crossbody movement for bag options. I like having my essentials handy. From my phone, wallet, chap stick, and a lip gloss, it’s all within reach.

If I’m going with a casual, sporty look I like this option from Lululemon. Is it possible to have too many of these? Between S and me, we have a few to choose from! This dupe on Amazon has a ton of great reviews.

If you want to splurge, this classic crossbody from Tory Burch is a beautiful choice.

Now I’m ready to walk out the door and be ready for spring. You know as soon as it warms up a bit!

If you’re still in the throes of winter (and let’s be honest, it’s not exactly spring here, yet!), check out this post for my essentials to staying cozy.

With Easter and wedding season coming up, don’t forget the fellas!
