Supportive Siblings: Gratitude to Those Who Make a Difference

Sharing is caring!

We recently wrapped the fall ball season with G’s travel baseball team. If you have ever done travel sports, you understand the commitment the whole family makes to support your young athlete. Siblings included.

To say S has put in some time at the ball field as a little sister spectator is an understatement! This fall alone she’s spent countless hours, often entire weekends cheering on her brother and his teammates. She’s shagged baseballs in the outfield at his practices, pays close attention to game situations, and ranks each of the facilities by the quality of their concession stands! S has endured the sweltering heat and hidden under blankets to stay warm during the late night games. She is a trooper.

We are so grateful for her flexibility and patience. She dutifully packs a bag of things to keep her entertained during those long breaks between games and on the drives to and from the fields. S keeps a ready supply of art materials, sketch books, jewelry making kits, and books to keep her attention when she isn’t focused on the game.

And G reciprocates when possible. He went to a few local gymnastics meets when she was competing and always took my phone to video her routines. Since her recent transition to softball he consistently plays catch with her after school and when he doesn’t have his own practice or games, he goes to hers and helps the coach by shagging in the outfield or warming up pitchers.

They are typical siblings. They have their moments when they are at each other’s throats. But overall, there is nothing cooler than to see them supporting and encouraging the other at their events.

So, a huge shout out to all the siblings who show up and support each other!
