I consistently worked out every single day the in the month of April!

For some, that is no big deal, you’ve been doing this for years.

But for me, well, it’s an accomplishment. It’s a step towards my goal of maintaining consistent healthy habits.

If you’ve read my blog you are familiar with my sports mom lifestyle. I devote a lot of time and energy to getting my two active kiddos to their various sporting events, practices, and activities. While that is incredibly important, it often leaves little time for my own personal health goals.

Turning Things Around

I was discouraged with my lack of energy and worried about the detriments of aging without healthy exercise habits. I’d seen my grandfather play tennis five days a week until his 90s and I wanted to be like that. But, I’d have to do more than I was doing!

I connected with a fellow sports mom, and she encouraged me to try in home workouts with BODi by Beachbody. Thanks Jen Williams!

Action

It’s been six months and I can feel and see the difference of my efforts. They say action begets action, so once I got started it really snowballed (in a positive way!).

I have more energy to get all my tasks accomplished each day.

I feel better overall. On days I haven’t gotten a workout in yet, I feel sluggish and antsy. When I workout earlier in the day my mind is clearer and I feel motivated to tackle all the things.

I am stronger. I have a petite frame, so I’ll never be winning any weight lifting competitions, but I feel stronger and want to maintain light weights as I age.

At Home Fitness

Here are three easy things I used to jumpstart my at home fitness routine:

These are simple tools to get started. I like them, too because I can easily take them with me if we’re traveling, so I can stay committed to my routine.

Here’s the thing. There are a million demands on our time and attention, regardless of what your circumstances are. I was mentally depleted from the hangover of raising young kids and working through the pandemic…fun times for everyone! While I am by no means in the best shape of my life, I’m working towards it…and that feels good.

So, if you’re on the fence or if you’re worried you don’t have time, I encourage you to do it. Take a leap.

Try a quick five minute workout to get started. Walk the dog an extra 30 minutes.

There’s a lot to be said for taking the first step…do it!

PS I’m cheering you on!
