Looking Forward to (almost) Fall

Sharing is caring!

It’s mid September in North Carolina and it is still hot most afternoons. We’ve had the occasional crisp morning that fades into 85+ degrees by mid day. Regardless, I’m looking forward to fall.

Admittedly, I’m a girl who likes summer. But I love fall, too. Growing up in NC, we experience the change in seasons minus the harsh, long drawn out winters.

I like fall and here are three reasons why:

  • Fashion
  • Treats
  • Reset

Fall Fashion

One of the things that can be frustrating about fall is dressing for multiple seasons in one day. See my above statement about crisp mornings and blazing afternoons. But overall, I love fall fashion. I appreciate a chunky sweater and a comfy pair of boots. I can get behind a cozy scarf to tie it all together. I’ll add that I like furry slippers, so when I’m running the kids to school or driving through to pick up groceries, I slip on a pair and feel semi-dressed! I linked some of my fall favorites in this post!

Fall Treats

While cozy clothes are a welcome reprieve after the sweltering end of summer temps, fall treats are another reason to love the changing of the seasons. I am a coffee consumer year round, in all its varieties. But I love a warm cup of coffee on a cool autumn morning. For some reason, I feel the need to bake when the temps drop. I always try to make yummy banana bread to accompany my morning coffee. While I am not a huge fan of pumpkin spice everything, I love a simple pumpkin muffin or not too sweet pumpkin cake to satisfy my need for fall treats. Add a soup simmering on the stove and it’s the makings of a splendid fall day!

Fall Reset

Finally, I love the rest fall brings. It gets darker earlier, which is a nice motivation to wind down sooner from a busy day. I am a girl who loves her sleep, so between the cooler temps and the cozy blankets, I love the rest I get during fall. I am happy to cuddle up, catch a college football game on TV (another of fall’s great pleasures!) and intermittently snooze the afternoon away on the couch!

What are your favorite aspects of the change in seasons? What has you looking forward to fall?
