When I began conceptualizing my ideas for a personal blog, I kept coming back to the many identities I assume throughout the day.
The family identities: wife, mom, daughter, sister
The professional identities: educator, coach, PhD, writer, colleague, thought partner, reader
The personal identities: coffee lover, online shopper, volunteer, friend, church member, sports fan
Perhaps you feel the same, you are constantly in flux between and amongst identity markers.
The Files
I organized the Smetz Files around these broad categories. The files, as they are, represent general themes across topics I engage with often in my personal and professional life.
Features posts on how I engage my role as a sports mom for two active young athletes, mostly as a driver and snack provider! But always a fervent cheerleader on the sidelines!
These posts center more on reflections about parenting, feelings of inadequacy and ‘am I doing it right?’ questions, and connections with fellow parents.
Our dog is a huge part of our family. Being Bronx’s fur mom comes with added responsibilities and lots of German Shepherd cuddles!
I am an educator mom who is looking for ways to be involved with public education and literacy development for students.
We love calling Ocean Isle Beach our second home. These posts focus on the deceleration of island living and simple moments away from the busyness of it all. Diamond by the Sea is our place to recenter.
Smetz Unscripted features posts unique to me, my reflections, my likes, and things I don’t want to live without.
This file features content and links to items and products I’m currently coveting. Tap to shop some of my favorite things!
