Sweet summer time is here!
School is out. Sports schedules and activities are in a momentary lull. So, what’s a family to do?!
Head to the beach of course! It’s one of our favorite destinations.
It might feel like you’re moving in for the day, but make sure you’ve packed these beach day essentials to make your getaway more comfy.
We love any time we can get at Ocean Isle Beach, but summer means we need to pack specific things to beat the heat. Here’s a few of my favorite things to load into the wagon.
Shade
If you’re going to spend all day in the heat, you need an umbrella for shade. We love our Shibumi to keep us out of the direct sun. Don’t forget sunscreen while you dart back and forth to the water.
Once we’ve staked out our spot and the Shibumi is in place, we love these chairs for sitting and watching the waves roll in. They’re comfortable and have a spot for a beverage and pocket for your phone. Added bonus, they have backpack straps for easy transport if the wagon is too full!
As much as I love the beach, I really don’t like getting sand everywhere. So, once the shibumi and chairs are set up, I pop out a folding table to keep my phone and water bottle as sand free as possible. If you need more space, this option gives you plenty of storage for snacks and drinks. PS, these are perfect to take to the ball field for weekend tournaments!
Towels
A day at the beach requires towels. These striped ones are our favorites. They’re the perfect weight and softness to dry off after riding the waves. After a quick dip in the pool, toss them in the washing machine and be ready for another day of fun in the sun!

Cooler
If you’re going to set up camp for a day at the beach, you need to stay hydrated. I love this backpack cooler because it keeps drinks, sandwiches, and fruit cool while we play on the beach. An added bonus are the zipper pockets to keep the essentials, like keys and phones safes.
Indulge a few days of respite this summer. Grab your favorite gear and head down to the beach to enjoy the sand and surf.
