Six Month Review: Lessons I Learned and New Goals from my first Six Months Blogging

Sharing is caring!

I’m six months in with my personal blogging adventure!

In some ways it feels crazy that it’s only been six months because I have really enjoyed exploring personal writing and it’s become part of my routine to reflect and write daily.

How I organized my blog

As summer comes to a close, I reflect on three of my most read posts this quarter.

Summer Bucket List

This post got lots of attention. I really tried to lean into my simple musings as a small town mom with this one and keep summer simple. Of course we did some larger trips, but overall we had goals of doing things that were important to the kids, kept us close to home, and included things we could enjoy as a family of four. Admittedly, we didn’t get to all of them, but nevertheless, it was a fun exercise in prioritizing life’s simple moments while our kids are still young and want to spend time with us! I can’t wait to do this again next year and hear their ideas as they age and their interests change. Let me know what you think we should include!

We Came First

I read recently that mothering and nurturing come naturally, but marriages are hard work. That resonated and I wrote this post after reflecting on the foundation of our family. It is so easy to get caught up in the stresses of daily life and neglect the core relationship that holds it all together…us. Writing this post grounded how grateful I feel for our long term commitment to building a life together and maximizing our moments together.

DIYers

This post was a true celebration and feeling accomplished for repairing our washing machine. Who knew I married the Maytag Man?! It was so debilitating having a washer on the fritz, so after studying a YouTube tutorial Jay got our laundry back in business for less than $50…again, so impressive and such a relief to have this major appliance working properly. It’s the little things, but this one felt big, thus I wrote about my excitement!

Reaching Goals

Since I began writing my blog I’ve had the most fun connecting with fellow writers and moms across the country. That was one of my original intentions for starting the blog; I wanted to connect with fellow moms.

That goal has been realized!

Accounts I’m Following and Why You Should Too

I have laughed way too hard when some of your posts have really hit home and I’ve sent my congratulations as you, too have realized your goals.

So, six months in, I intend to keep writing. I would love to keep connecting and hope my simple musings continue to resonate with you.

What advice would you give a new blogger?
